Purpose.
To secure enabling legislation and voter support for a permanent revenue source to fund higher education research and degree offerings and to request that KU and KSU locate three new facilities in Johnson County to enhance the economic future of Johnson County residents, the state of Kansas and the region.

Education has always put Johnson County on the map and that investment has paid off-top ranked schools, a nationally recognized community college, and employers who rely on a well-educated work force.

Now it's time for us to take the next step.

The Johnson County Education and Research Triangle is an exciting new concept designed to enhance our community's competitiveness through strategic investment in educational excellence. And the benefits will be tremendous-an even safer, smarter and healthier place to call home.

The University of Kansas Edwards Campus is prepared to significantly expand its offerings to help grow the skilled workforce Johnson County employers need.

Kansas State University's new innovation campus in Johnson County will expand K-State's world class expertise in food safety and animal health.

Cancer has touched all of our lives-and only research will find the cure. KU's cancer center is poised to become the nation's number one producer of new cancer drugs and we want to make those new treatments available to patients here first.

For just an eighth of a cent sales tax we can create 1.3 billion dollars in economic vitality over the next two decades. That's just how powerful an investment in education can be. The triangle will allow us to invest in three significant initiatives:

• Expanding science, technology, engineering and math programs at KU's Overland Park Edwards campus.
• Creating the National Food and Animal Health Institute at K-State's Innovation Campus in Olathe.
• Building a leading edge clinical trials cancer research institute in Northeast Johnson County.
