Governor Sebelius Signing Bill
Senate Bill 115 was passed by the Kansas legislature and signed into law by Governor Sebelius during the 2007 Kansas legislature session.

SB 115, the enabling legislation to allow the voters of Johnson County to decide on a local tax to fund the Triangle was supported by several members of the Johnson County Legislative delegation who believed that the citizens of Johnson County should have the right to vote on the project.

Thirteen of the 22 Johnson County House members voted for SB 115. There were three votes in the Senate. Six of the seven Johnson County Senators voted in favor on the first vote and all seven voted in favor the next two times.

  • Request that Johnson County Commission put 1/8th cent sales tax on the Nov. 8, 2008 general election ballot
  • 1/8th cent raises approximately $15 million per year to be divided equally among the three projects
  • Each project will use $2.5 million for bond & debt to construct the building, and $2.5 million for operations, maintenance, degree programs & research
  • Ask the voters of Johnson county to support the Triangle
